# User Roles

> What each Monitor360 role can see and do

## Overview

Every user has one of four roles. You set the role when you [add](/users/add-user) or [edit](/users/edit-user) a user.

| Role | Intended for | Whose data they see |
| - | - | - |
| **Admin** | Workspace owners and administrators | Everyone in the organization |
| **HR** | HR and payroll teams | Everyone except the users listed in their **Excluded Users** |
| **IT Team** | IT and device support staff | Everyone in the organization, with a focus on devices |
| **User** | Employees and managers | Themselves and the people who report to them (their reportee tree) |

<Tip>
  A user with the **User** role who has team members reporting to them works as a manager. They can view reports, timelines, and live tracking for their reportees.
